HCA Students Honor Veterans During Technology Resource

Students at Harrells Christian Academy honored veterans this week during their Technology Resource time.  The history of Veteran’s Day was explained and students had the opportunity to choose a special way to show their appreciation to those who have served our great country.  After their class computer lesson and a brainstorming session of words they would like to say to veterans, each student wrote a poem using words like heroes, respect, nice and awesome.  The students also prepared pictures of airplanes, medals of honor, and poppy-adorned crosses to be given to local veterans.

The poems and pictures will be presented to local veterans during the Warsaw Presbyterian Church Homecoming Celebration in Duplin County and during the Wounded Warrior Fishing Event on Topsail Island in Pender County.

HCA Fundraising Celebration

Some students at Harrells Christian Academy were bouncing off the walls on the morning of Monday, November 07, 2011. Students had a blast on the giant inflatable playground that was located on the HCA football field. This experience was a reward for working hard in the 2011-2012 HCA’s fundraiser.

This year’s fundraising event involved selling raffle tickets. The winner of the raffle was Mrs. Villegas, an Upper School teacher. The raffle winner was announced at HCA’s homecoming football game. All students who sold two tickets were eligible to play on the inflatable equipment.

Participants were able to slide down the giant slide, bounce in the giant play area, and crawl through tunnels. Rance Creech, a middle school student said, “The slide was most fun! I enjoy using my jacket to make me slide quicker.” Thank you to everyone who helped to make the event a success!
