Beta Club Chapel

By: MaryKate Murray (9th grade)

On Wednesday, February 22, 2012, Harrells Christian Academy had a chapel program dedicated to their Junior Beta Club and Senior Beta Club. In this chapel, old members got to march down the isles followed by those to be inducted into the Beta Club’s. Sr. Beta Club sponsor Mrs. Ruth Ann Parker exclaimed, “I’m so very proud of these young people. Beta students are typically involved in so many things inside and outside of school. It is amazing that these students can keep a 4.0 GPA and still participate in sports, clubs, church, and community groups. It is a pleasure to be able to work with them and watch them grow in the areas of leadership and service.” To start of the chapel, Grayson Fussell lead everyone in pledges to the Christian Flag and the American Flag. Then Hannah Verrilli did a morning prayer, followed by Matt Maready’s welcome. Catherine Armstrong then read the qualifications for the Jr. Beta Club while Ben Roberts read them for the Sr. Beta Club. Will Huff did an introduction to the “keys.” John Thomas read about the Key of Achievement, Adam Bowker read the Key of Character, Kerri Graham read the Key of Leadership, and Marianna More read about the Key of Service. Ben Roberts read a closing for the “keys.” The Jr. Beta inductees were then inducted into the club. They had to repeat a pledge read by Catherine Armstrong and then Mr. Josh Hunter and Mrs. Ellen Moody presented twenty-four new members with their certificates. Ben Roberts read the pledge for the new Sr. Beta Club inductees. Mrs. Beverly Bridgers and Mrs. Ruth Ann Parker presented nineteen new members with their certificates and the senior members of the club pinned them with their Sr. Beta Club pins. Ben Roberts and Sr. Beta inductee representative Ashley Usher then exchanged the “keys.” Senior Beta members than sang a song followed by the receiving of their senior beta cords presented by their sponsors. Mrs. Beverly Bridgers did a report on the Senior Beta Club convention and Mr. Josh Hunter did a report on the Junior Beta Club Convention. Dr. Ike Southerland closed this ceremony with a benediction.

HCA Terrific Kids

By: Gabrielle Johnson (12th grade) and Sara Moore (12th grade)

Every six weeks the elementary teachers choose a terrific kid out of their class. This student shows certain quality Christian character traits. This month the theme was being diligent. Joseph from the bible was our role model for this trait. Where ever he found himself, whether it was at his father’s house, at Potiphar’s house, or in jail; he remained faithful to God and diligent in his work. By being diligent, he became a ruler of Egypt. Diligence is a key trait to exhibit and will help you to succeed. Congratulations to all the terrific kids this month!
